Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) Iran’s largest automaker has unveiled its first all-electric vehicle, which will go on sale in March 2023. An all-electric version of IKCO’s Tara car has unveiled at the company’s headquarters in western Tehran.
According to Iranian Media Reports:
Jetco’s CEO Esmailpour said the car has created using reverse engineering of one of the models made by the American business Tesla. He also mentioned that the vehicle is currently undergoing testing in Germany and Spain. All of the car’s components would be domestically made with the exception of the battery cells, which, if the initiative received enough funding, might even be able to be produced by Iranian battery manufacturers.
All-Electric Car Tara Specification:
The all-new electric car model has created and developed by Jetco, the technological division of IKCO. It will have a 45 kWh battery pack Moreover, it will be able to cover a distance of 300 kilometers on a single complete charge. According to Jetco CEO Daoud Ismailpour, the all-electric Tara, which will the first EV to enter mass production in Iran, will designed and manufactured by 15 Iranian companies.
Iran Khodro Company Plans to Produce Huge Number of EV Units:
IKCO intends to produce 5,000 units of the Tara EV in the first year of manufacturing. The report says IKCO wants to get enough government funding to give vehicles to municipal organizations in charge of taxi fleets in Iranian cities. In addition,The Iranian government has offered more support for the domestic car industry in recent years to counter the effects of US sanctions. The support has definitely paid off because automakers have been able to sustain their output at pre-sanctions levels while continuing to introduce new models in recent years.
