Under the leadership of the Federal Minister of Energy Khurram Dastgir, a delegation attended the Future Energy Asia Conference 2023, organized by USAID in Bangkok. The agenda of this conference is \u201cEmerging Clean Energy Investment Opportunities in Pakistan\u201d.<\/p>\n

The delegation conciliates Division Additional Secretary Amjad Majeed Khan, Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Managing Director Shah Jahan Mirza, and Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) Director Syed Aqeel Hussain Jaffri.<\/p>\n

Minister of Energy highlighted Pakistan\u2019s National Electricity Policy 2021 objectives for Pakistan\u2019s clean energy transition which include a 30% ratio of electric vehicles by 2030, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

He also told the progress that Pakistan\u2019s clean energy program had successfully crossed 6% with an installed capacity of 2,436 capacity.<\/p>\n

Current Automotive Situation<\/h2>\n

The current automotive situation is very disgusting. The sale of vehicles hugely declined and was affected by several economic factors. The ongoing import restrictions on imported parts have made it difficult for manufacturers to continue a smooth production system. Meanwhile, the previous plans of automakers to move on EVs also disturb.<\/p>\n

Electric vehicles<\/a> become a big challenge for them because auto parts import is not as easy as in the past. They are unable to meet the objectives decided in the past related to EVs and the growth of the automotive sector.<\/p>\n

The ongoing situation has made hurdle for automakers to meet their goals and improve production. Government support is really needed to improve the auto sector. Although it seems impossible right now because of dwindling economic conditions.<\/p>\n

Pakistan is the victim of most air pollution country. The production of electric vehicles is necessary for Pakistan to successfully bear climate change. At this stage where the global auto industry moved to EVs quickly, we really need to focus on it. In Pakistan two-wheelers and three-wheelers are common and cheapest traveling options.
