Due to the excessive import of these units, the import bill of Pakistan is extremely high that load the burden on the government. The demand of CBU cars high in Pakistan due to the low quality of locally assembled cars. The Finance Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Tarin has suggested banning the import of CBU cars in Pakistan for the next 6 to 9 months. A senior official of the Ministry of Industries and Production has notified the government that under the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime, the import of CBU units is legal and the government can\u2019t ban the import. However, the government cannot ban the import of CBU units but they can increase the taxes on CBU cars to control the import. The Ministry of Industries and Production has sent the proposal to the government which mentioned that imposed 50% regulatory duty on imported CBU cars. The below suggestions are mentioned in the proposal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Duty will increase on electric vehicles over 50 kWh battery<\/li><li>Hybrid vehicles of 1501cc to 1800cc<\/li><li>Fuel-powered CBU units (engine displacement not mentioned)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is no confirmation revealed by the government against the proposal.
