The first thing you become aware of is that the Portofino appears much more aggressive than the California. Even as the California T, the front end of Ferrari\u2019s entry-level grand tourer\u00a0for all time looked a little like it was wearing a bug-eyed grin. The Portofino\u2019s fascia, in the meantime, appears serious and aggressive. In profile, sharp lines lead back to the Portofino\u2019s muscular, flared rear fenders and a rear end, which\u00a0highly features twin circular taillights and a quad exhaust. A few of the styling features might be a little too aggressive, as if Ferrari is trying too hard to sell the idea that the Portofino is a serious, real Ferrari. But on the whole, the design works well.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, Ferrari has restructured the California T\u2019s twin-turbo V-8 so it now makes 591 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. Gratitude to the compact weight of the all-new chassis, Ferrari says the Portofino will hit 62 mph in a mere 3.5 seconds and has a top speed superior than 199 mph. For a car with seating for four, that\u2019s seriously speedy. Ferrari also guarantees zero turbo lag and a retuned exhaust that will wail even louder under wide-open throttle.<\/p>\n

And even though\u00a0the Portofino is owed as a grand tourer, Ferrari says it didn\u2019t ignore the handling. It gets an electronic rear differential like you\u2019ll find in the\u00a0488 GTB\u00a0and dual-coil magnetorheological dampers that guarantee reduced body roll without sacrificing ride quality. The steering ratio was also lessened by 7 percent to increase receptiveness.<\/p>\n
