Whoever drives is acquaint with the fact that the steering system is considered as one of the most vital mechanism that exist in the vehicle. Any problem caused in the functioning of this system will directly create a problem for the driver .if the steering system fails then the performance as well as the safety of the driver is at a critical risk. Here are the reasons why it happens and what can be the steps of protection to avoid the malfunctioning of Steering system.

Incorrect Tire Pressure

Be sure to Check the air pressure in your tires. All tires of the vehicle should be having an equal amount of filled air in them as per said by the manufacturer’s suggested PSI.Stiff steering can be caused by inappropriate quantity of air in tires, particularly if they are too low.

Improper Wheel Alignment

Properly check the front end alignment of wheels of your vehicle. The signs would be uneven front tire wear and pulling to one side as driving. If the wheels are not aligned correctly, particularly while making turns you can also come across hard and stiff steering.

Low Power Steering Fluid

The primary cause of a steering wheel being hard to turn is a low level of power steering fluid. Despite the fact that refilling the power steering mini tank with fluid will for that moment fixes the setback but the actual symptom of the dying power steering fluid will call for a cause. There might be a probability that a pressurized hose could be loose or cracked. The foremost purpose of the power steering fluid is to lubricate the power steering pump and to pass on pressure effortlessly all the way through the mechanism.

Damaged or Loose Power Steering Belt/ Damaged Pulley

Your steering system could be hard because of the breakage or loosing of the serpentine belt, Owing to this reason the power steering system will right away turn out to be inactive. Eventually, the material of the belt steadily start on to wear out. Still high-quality belts also needs to be swaped. If the belt is repeatedly loose, there may be an additional guilty party, that being a worn pulley.
