Here is the latest news millions of vehicle owners in Sindh are waiting for their vehicle number plates. According to Sindh Excise Department, more than four million number plates of motorcycles and cars were pending in Sindh. The excise department is currently under discussion due to a delay in the issuance of more than 4 million number plates.
Sindh Excise and Taxation Department Stated:
As per the recent report, the Sindh excise and taxation official department informed the Sindh ombudsman that 4.364 million motorcycle number plates were pending in Sindh. They also stated that 308,963 million commercial and non-commercial automobiles numbers plates had delayed. The vehicles owners in Sindh have been waiting for the number plates of their vehicles since 2016.
Officials also said that about 1.34 million bikes and 297,000 cars are currently running on roadways without number plates in Sindh. The ombudsman had urged the excise department officials to provide it district by district details and their plans to eliminate massive backlogs.
Why Vehicle Number Plates Are Still pending?

He noted that due to limited resources, the department could only issue 53,000 automobiles number plates and 207,000 motorcycle number plates per year. The finance department had not been allocated funds for the activation of vehicles number plates in Sindh.
According to Excise Department, in a recent cabinet meeting, the finance department had decided to increase existing funds to Rs. 1.17 billion to clear the backlog. But the finance department has not yet approved cash for this purpose. Vehicles number plates issuance matter ware pending due to the finance department. The preparation of number plates will begin once payment has been received.
