Traffic Violators Watch Out In Lahore! GOP Sets Up E-Challan

Punjab Safe Cities Authority has introduced the e-Challan in Lahore so all the violators out there, just be cautious from now onwards.

As per a video uploaded on the official Facebook page of the GOP, the ANPR cameras installed all over the city will be used to spot out the traffic violators. Subsequent to their identification process, the e-Challans WILL then be sent off to the home address of these violators.

These electronic tickets accompany the upgraded facility of paying fines by means of Internet online banking. Despite of standing in long queues for a considerable part of the day, just by a click of button violators will be able to deposit fine fee. Nevertheless, frequent violations will also consequence in cancellation of the offender’s driving license.

Approximately 90 traffic wardens at different points in the city will be give the smart machines, called as 4G Multipurpose Handsets, while overall 350 of these devices will be made accessible to the Lahore Traffic Police for the intention of e-ticketing. Over 300 patrolling officers and 40 sector in-charges will also have the right to use these devices by the end of December 2017.

It was additionally made clear that the smart machines will be associated with the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS), and the Driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS).

As addressing the general public during the same video, Punjab Safe Cities Authority Chief Coordinating Officer (COO) Akbar Nasir said that Lahore will be the first city in the country which will be having the e-ticketing system implementation; furthermore he added that this system of issuing tickets will later be prolonged to embrace other cities of the province too.

‘The focus of the e-ticketing system is to provide maximum relief to the public while minimizing human interaction,’

COO uttered.

He stated that an essential reason of the set up in this system is to undertake corruption and to make sure clearness in the procedure of issuing tickets every time traffic rules get violated. Nasir affirmed that the payments of the fine can be done via ATMs or online banking too together with depositing the amount in any branch of a specific bank.

Though the entire mechanism seems quite advanced, only time shall reveal the efficiency (and flaws) of the newly introduced e-ticketing system.
