Toyota which initially opposed the decision of shifting to Electric vehicles now has announced that they will soon start the production of their first electric vehicle Toyota BZ4X SUV.
Previous Stance of Toyota
We have seen in previous days that Toyota was opposing the production of Electric vehicles. Mr. Toyoda – The CEO of Toyota Japan and a member of the Japan Auto Manufacturer Association said that it is totally not a good step that the Japanese Govt. is forcefully trying to go for electrification to reduce carbon from the environment. He said that with electrification we will have a loss of 5.5 million jobs and a reduction in output of 8 million vehicles by the end of 2030. At a meeting of the Japan Auto Manufacturer Association, he said that this ‘Green Manufacturing Goal’ which is pushed by Japanese authorities, is unsustainable. Japan is planning to have a carbon-free environment by the end of 2050. Mr. Toyoda said that this sudden shifting to EV will disturb the economy of Japan as this depends upon the industry and a big part depends on Auto Industry.
Launch of BZ4X
Toyota has announced that they will launch the BZ4X globally in the mid of 2022. They initially displayed the concept car back in April 2021.
Features of BZ4X
This unit will be electric-based. This will be based on a Battery-electric platform that is created by Subaru and Toyota jointly. Both 2WD and 4WD options will be available in this amazing vehicle.
Power of BZ4X
Both 2WD and 4WD vehicles will be powered by a 71.4 kWh battery pack.
The 2WD drive variant will possess a power output of 150 kW and will have an expected drive range of 500 kilometers and the acceleration of this vehicle from 0-100 KM/h will be 8.4 seconds. It will have a total mass of 2,195 KG.
The 4WD drive variant will own a power output of 160 kW which will be divided equally between front and rear wheels. It will have an expected range of 460 kilometers. It will have a total mass of 2,275 kg. From 0-100 KM/h this unit will go in 7.7 seconds.

Exterior of BZ4X
On the exterior first of all, we will see the dimensions of this vehicle. This unit will be 4,690 mm long and 1,860mm wide. This unit will have a height of 1,650mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The vehicle will have a sunroof and an option of a Solar panel over the roof. The company claims that this solar panel will charge the vehicle if parked under the sun and it will also help to charge the vehicle in emergencies.
Interior of BZ4X
It is expected that Toyota will offer an Aircraft-Style steering wheel in its new electric vehicle BZ4X 2022 SUV. The steering will be electrically controlled which means that there will be no physical connection between steering and wheels but it will be controlled electrically. This will be given an amazing feel and will require only 150 degrees of steering revolution from one end to the other end. The steering torque to be felt by the driver will be controlled independently and it can be changed from the drive mode selection.
Extra Features of BZ4X
Toyota will introduce many extra features in this vehicle. For example, they will give an option of a digital key that will be connected to the smartphone of the owner. This software will help to control the vehicle with the screen operation. Even one can lock, unlock and start the system with the help of this smartphone app. Toyota will also improve the feature of voice recognition which will help to control the vehicle, even someone can control wipers sunroof or air-conditioning with a Voice recognition system.

Safety Features of BZ4X
The battery compartment will have two side members which will connect the vehicle from left to right which will help to absorb the collision force in case of impact. Two-cross members will be located at the front of the vehicle to reduce the damage in case of a collision with any other vehicle. The battery pack will be located under the floor of the vehicle and it will be protected by a strong framework at the front of the cabin. Toyota claims that they will design the vehicle in such a way that in case of any collision or the impacts of road conditions will be transferred to different parts of the frame instead of affecting the passengers and the battery pack.

Furthermore, battery safety includes a monitoring system that will display the voltage, current, and temperature of the battery. It will give warnings in case of any danger or case of abnormal temperature rise. The vehicle will also have a high resistance coolant to control the temperature of the battery and also to prevent fire in case of short circuits or due to any other reason. Additionally, the battery is connected with the vehicle body for better safety in case of any collision.
