Toyota has unveiled what it says the “World’s Fastest Crossover” at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The C-HR R-Tuned, the souped-up SUV gets a 600bhp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, Brembo brakes and extraordinary suspension.

A disclosure at SEMA, the R-Tuned C-HR is said to have surpassed in power with exotic muscle from the likes of McLaren and Porsche, by posting the fifth fastest lap ever, of the 2.5-mile Willow Springs International Raceway in California. Nevertheless no official time has been made public.

Power-driven by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the C-HR R-Tuned in addition gets a DG-spec Garrett turbo to generate its eye-watering power and torque figures. That total grumble is sent to the front wheels, with the help of an OS Giken limited-slip differential.
Brembo racing brakes are also covered by 18-inch wheels and Toyo Proxes RR tires. The striking front bumper, splitter and rear wing are said to build up over 130kg of down-force at “triple-digit speeds”.

Coming to the interior, it has been stripped, with no rear seats and new carbon fiber details. Toyota persevere the C-HR R-Tuned is not all show and no go – and has been to the track “every month” as the project went on track late last year.

The C-HR was sitting among 18 Toyota models at the SEMA Show, which is in ongoing process till Friday 3rdNovember 2017.
