Suzuki Mehran is the based model version of the second-generation Suzuki alto which has been manufactured by Pak Suzuki Motor 31 years ago. It was firstly introduced in 1989 in the automotive market of Pakistan. It is the most popular vehicle which had dominated the 800cc category vehicle in the country for decades. This compact hatchback car was developed with very minor modifications and an engine upgraded over three decades. Suzuki Mehran is the most successful and best-selling car of Pak Suzuki in the Pakistani automotive market it did not compete with other manufacturers during its production. It’s a popular choice because of its price, durability, and great resale value. It is also known as the king of Pakistan roads

In 1989, Suzuki Mehran was first developed by a Japanese Automaker company. It was priced around RS. 90,000. This five doors hatchback was the replacement for Suzuki FX and become most well-known because of its affordable price and low maintenance. Suzuki Mehran continued its business for the next 23 years of its production with little alliteration.

Then in 2012, the company was the Euro-II model of Suzuki Mehran which was a notable change in its engine. The old carburetor engine of the Mehran model was changed with an electronic fuel injection system. some other modest changes were also made such as the front radiator grill, crystal lights, and a few cosmetic adjustments. Moreover, Suzuki Mehran enjoyed tremendous sales throughout its life. Due to its extraordinarily high market value, it is classified as hard cash in Pakistan. Thus, the 1989 Suzuki Mehran is still available in Pakistani markets for a reasonable cost.

In Addition, Suzuki Mehran was sold in large numbers throughout its lifespan in Pakistan. According to the PAMA report, Suzuki Mehran has sold 35,526 units in 2007-08, compared to only 13,421 in the fiscal year 2008-09, when its sales dropped significantly. Finally, the introduction of the Euro-II model in 2013 helped to maintain Suzuki Mehran sales. The company has sold around 29,000 units per year since then. In 2017-18, Pak Suzuki set a new record selling 46,221 Mehran vehicles.

The company has announced in April 2019, it would be phased out the production of the famous hatchback in Pakistan. However, it probably sold the units that were already produced for the next year until June 2020.

Suzuki Mehran Exterior Design:

The exterior design of the Suzuki Mehran has a dormant, minimalist style, similar to the car designed in the 1980s. The exterior of Suzuki Mehran has a boxy appearance with trapezium-shaped headlights and a half-covered grille with rectangular-shaped holes on one side. In addition, the sealed end of the other side has standard black bumpers. Moreover, the back end of the car has a pair of relatively angular square taillights, a normal hatchback, and a black bumper. Suzuki Mehran’s overall length, width, and height are 3300mm, 1405mm, and 1410mm, respectively. This 600KG weighted car has a 12-inch steel wheel.

The interior of the Mehran is simple and seemingly inferior. Plastic is used throughout the inside, including on the dashboard, inner door panels, and other manual functions and buttons. The front and back seats are both raped with fabric that constantly changing color, and the seats have not been updated. Everything in the Mehran, including the windows and seat adjustment controls, is operated manually. The overall interior of the Mehran lacks basic features like central locking, steering adjustment, rear seat belts, etc. It also lacks interior refinement and comfort.

The Suzuki Mehran has equipped with a GA15 796cc engine and OHC & EFI 16 Valve Inline-4 cylinders that produce 39/5500 HP/RPM and 59/3000 Nm/RPM of maximum torque. It has a 4-speed manual transmission and 1493cc piston displacement. The compression ratio of Suzuki Mehran is 9.5:1 and offers a maximum output of 68/6000 kW/rpm. It has multiple fuel injection points and a steering turning radius of 4.1m with front-wheel drive.

Suzuki Mehran has come in different appealing colors in Pakistan. Graphite Gray, Solid White, Pearl Red, and Silky Silver are some of the available colors of Suzuki Mehran.

Moreover, customers had a broad array of Japanese car choices in this price range, therefore ending Mehran’s presence in the country was a wise move.
