While observing the increasing demand for Compact Cross over SUVs, every automaker is trying to play its part in this specific segment. The Horses which are competing in this race are Hyundai, MG, DFSK, Proton, and Haval. Now the news has been spread that Peugeot has also decided to compete in this race with the collaboration of Lucky Motors Pakistan (a Pakistani automobile manufacturer which is a part subsidiary of Kia Motors).
Introduction
If we are talking about Peugeot and specifically about Peugeot 2008 then I want to add that Peugeot 2008 has become one of the most demanding models of Peugeot with over 1 million customers so far. Peugeot 2008 is the successor of Peugeot 207 SW, and second-Generation car picks up the lead where the supermini-based cross-over left the track but it looks more massive, bold, and latest technology. In the class of competitors including Kia, Hyundai, and MG, Peugeot must start with a new fresh, and massive appearance as it is demanded in Pakistan Market.
Interior
The Interior of Peugeot 2008 is very impressive because it has the design and built quality better than many of its competitors. It displays like a piano key in the middle of the dashboard and it contains the latest Peugeot I-cockpit which initially was launched in Peugeot 3008 and hopefully, the same will be given when it will be launched in Pakistan.
I-cockpit:
It has many improvements like the steering wheel will be brought lower and the instrument dials will be raised which will increase the visibility and controllability. Lowering the steering will help the driver to see the display over the wheel instead of through the wheel. It contains a high-definition display screen rather than analog dials. It will allow the user to set the odometer and tachometer according to his ease and it will also bring the navigation and phone display in front of the user.
Infotainment
The eight-inch screen will be operated by the seven buttons on the central console. This will allow the user to switch between different displays like Navigation, Phone, Blue tooth, stereo, and Driver assistance systems. This new system will also contain the feature of Android connectivity and Apple Car Play system. The quality of this newly introduced I-Cockpit is very impressive as smooth materials are used for its finishing instead of rough-surfaced plastic.
Interior Space
This car is more spacious and has more leg space especially for rear passengers and this became possible due to its extra length. Rear seats do not have any extra features as sliding in Skoda Kamik and Renault Captur but it has boot space of 434 liters and after rear seats down it can be extended up to 1,467 liters which cannot be overlooked. There are lots of other things and equipment attached, even in the basic model, Alloy wheels and Climate control air condition is expected to be introduced. Top variants look bigger and sportier due to big wheels and Panoramic sunroof and obviously, they will be more expensive than the basic variants.
Exterior
First-generation was a simple and smooth start while the second generation is more massive and curved, inspiring by the bigger 3008. A Stunning Grill, Extended Spoiler and chopper-like LED with daytime running light give it a gigantic look that attracts customers more than ever before.
Engine
The new Peugeot is powered by Petrol diesel and all-electric power engines but in Pakistan, it will come with a 1.2litre pure tech petrol engine which will produce 131Hp and will give a torque of 230Nm. It will be controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission which will transfer the power of the engine to the front wheels of the vehicle.
Drive Train
All Peugeot 2008 are front-wheel drive and there is a clever traction control system called Advance Grip Control to help the driver to keep his vehicle straight and under control while driving on slippery and muddy roads.
Dimensions/weight
This car will have a total length of 1740mm and a width of 1557 mm and its height will be 2538 mm with a wheelbase Ground clearance of 2538mm and 170mm respectively. It has a minimum turning radius of 10 Meters. Vehicle weighs between 1,045-1,200 kg.
