On the invitation of WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is attending the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) was held being held from January 23 to 26.
PM Abbasi on January 25, met Chairman and CEO of Renault-Nissan — the ninth major automaker in the world by production volume — to invite him to regard as Pakistan as their next investment destination. Senior government officials including Minister National Health Services Miss Saira Afzal Tarar, MoS Information and Broadcasting Miss Maryum Aurangzeb, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
PM Abbasi told him that Pakistan will be able to manufacture half a million cars per year by 2023. He further added that big names from the auto industry like Kia and Hyundai are by now entering the market to supplement Honda, Toyota, and Suzuki.
Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO Renault-Nissan, expressed thanks PM Abbasi for inviting their company to invest in Pakistan. Mr. Ghosn made sure that Groupe Renault will be bringing its newest products to Pakistan very soon.
He said :
‘With a car sales market of 300,000 units per year, Pakistan has a vast potential in automobiles and auto-parts. Groupe Renault will soon bring its latest products and technological know-how to Pakistan.”
He asserted that Renault plans to bring its best products for Pakistani customers since the Pakistani market has a huge growth potential.
