Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2024 CLA range, which has redesigned front and rear ends, restyled headlamps, and new wheel choices.
Peak output remains at 221 horsepower, but a newer electric engine adds 13 horsepower to decrease the range’s peak power.
Mercedes-Benz CLA History
Since 2013, Mercedes-Benz has been producing the Mercedes-Benz CLA class of luxurious compact executive vehicles.
Generations
Mercedes-Benz CLA introduced two generations,

- 2nd Generation
1st Generation
On the basis of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact vehicles, the first generation’s four-door sedan was offered as a four-door coupe.
Mercedes-Benz enhanced the CLA family in 2015 with the addition of the Shooting Brake, a station wagon form.
2nd Generation
The second generation CLA was announced in January 2019 at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show.
The W177 A-Class, W247 B-Class, X247 GLB, and H247 GLA are all built on the same Modular Front Architecture (MFA2) platform. The C118 CLA keeps a fastback appearance to differentiate itself from the V177 A-Class Sedan, and it shares power trains with the A-Class.
The CLA 250 e plug-in hybrid model was unveiled in March 2020, and it is available in Coupe and Shooting Brake body types.
There is no word on the official price yet, but Mercedes anticipates that the new CLA will arrive in showrooms later in 2023.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Upgrades
Mercedes-Benz is introducing a 48-volt hybrid system to the CLA series, providing more low-end power as well as some attractive visual improvements.
The updated 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class family has a new style, enhanced technology, and powertrain enhancements. The entire line of updated models will be available in the United States later this year. Pricing will be announced closer to the time of their arrival.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 250
The front-wheel-drive CLA 250 and all-wheel-drive CLA 250 4Matic are the entry-level models in the range. They still employ a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 221 horsepower (165 kilowatts).
To improve acceleration, the 2024 model gets a 48-volt hybrid system. It adds 13 horsepower to the power output at the bottom end of the rpm range.
The starter generator recovers energy during braking and acceleration, which it subsequently utilizes to power the 12-volt onboard network and the 48-volt hybrid system.
Design and Features
The cars get a new front bumper and a star pattern for the mesh in the middle grille, as well as a modified nose. Inside the headlights, new visuals have been added. Designers work on the diffuser in the back.
The redesigned CLA 250 models are available in two new colors: Hyper Blue and Starling Blue. There are three more wheel designs available.
Inside, 10.25-inch displays for the instrument panel and infotainment display are now standard. The MBUX software now includes new display styles such as Classic, Sporty, and Discreet.
The steering wheel is cover in Nappa leather, and a heated version is available as an option.
The Parking Package comes included with a 360-degree camera view. The optional Driver Assistance Package has been enhance to increase lane-keep assist steering control.
Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class
The AMG range for the CLA includes the 35 and 45 S variants. In addition, the 35 receives a 48-volt electrical system and a belt-driven starter generator.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine continues to produce 302 horsepower (225 kW). It now has an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
45 S Models Design
The 45 S now generates 416 horsepower (310 kW), up from 382 hp previously (285 kW). Torque is increase to 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) rather than 354 lb-ft (480 Nm). Mercedes does not alter the projected duration of 4.0 seconds for acceleration to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour).
AMG versions also get a new front design. The graphics on the headlights and taillights have been update. The 45 S may be order with the AMG Aerodynamics Package Plus, which includes a fixed rear spoiler.
35 S Models Design
Three new wheel styles are available for the 35. The base setup includes 10-spoke, 18-inch wheels in high-gloss black with machined surfaces. A 19-inch model features five pairs of spokes and is available with machined surfaces or a machined rim.
Conclusion
