The City Traffic Police has once again closed Lahore’s Kalma Chowk for traffic for months. Kalma Chowk, Kalma Underpass, and Kalma Bridge are the most important traffic crossroads in Lahore, and hundreds of people pass through them every day. Kalma Chowk has been to traffic once again due to construction work. The citizens have begun reporting troublesome traffic jams on the road because one side of Kalma Chowk towards Center Point dug up as construction is underway.
Lahore’s Kalma Chowk Closed For Traffic:

The City Traffic Police (CTP) has attributed the congestion to reconstruction work. While updating the people, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr. Asad Malhi said that the reconstruction work of Kalma Chowk has started. Heavy machinery is in working, thus there are alternate routes for commuters. People will face inconvenience temporarily as we have closed 2 out of 4 lanes. He added that after the completion of the work, the traffic will flow properly. In his statement, he warned people against using this route and suggested the three following alternative routes for people:
- People going from Barkat Market to Liberty Market will have to take a left at Kalma Chowk, take a U-turn at Muslim Town turn, and then pass through Gaddafi Stadium to reach Liberty Market.
- Similarly, Model Town traffic heading towards Liberty Market will go straight to Muslim Town turn, then take a U-turn and reach the market via Stadium.
- People coming from Firdous Market should proceed from Hussain Chowk to Liberty Market or Main Boulevard, Gulberg.
Moreover, the ongoing work’s duration has not yet known. To avoid daily traffic congestion, the authority has for the time being encouraged everyday commuters to take alternate routes. And hopefully, these new suggested routes will help in hassle-free travel and people will not have to stay in traffic jams for hours.
