Hyundai And KIA Recalls 570,000 Models Over Fire Risk

Overview:

The Motor Co, Hyundai, and KIA have officially issued a warning for owners of over 570,000 vehicles across. Its multiple models and years to park away from the structures, due to a fire risk. The Hyundai Santa Fe models from lately 2019 to 2023 are at risk, as are the models of KIA Carnival and Hyundai Santa Cruz models of 2022-2023.

The risk-free stems from a defect with the tow-hitch harnesses that are well installed either as original equipment or purchased as a dealer accessory. The risk of fire occurs through a water accumulation on the tow hitch harness circuit board. This can be a reason for an electrical short and ultimately on fire. The

Motor Co, Hyundai reports a total of 567,912 affected vehicles across combined models, though the estimated percentage of vehicles. The number of vehicles with the defect is only 1%, NHTSA documents show that the KIA is reporting 3555 vehicles potentially. This is estimating a 1 percent defect rate.

NHTSA Documents show six incidents:

According to the NHTSA documents the Company Hyundai has identified a total of six incidents related to the recall. There was one report of fire among the occurrences, while the remaining five were of thermal damage to the caravan harness.

KIA Grand Carnival

Additionally, per the NHTSA records, no KIA Grand Carnival fires have been reported. The manufacturer has not apparently discovered any injuries linked to the recall.

Advice to Affected Vehicle Owners:

The owners of the affected vehicles are advised to park their cars outside, and at safe distance from any structure or other vehicle. The repair of these vehicles will be completed soon. The documents show that Hyundai has planned to inspect the affected vehicles and remove the tow hitch.

The Tow Hitch is necessary for working on a long-term solution. Dealers will install a new fuse and a wire extension kit as soon as the fix is available.

While the Documents from KIA Company show their plan to verify whether the automobile has a genuine KIA accessory tow hitch. The Company will install a wire extension and a new fuse where it is necessary.

Other owner notification letters will be mailed to the owners of affected vehicles in May 2023. However, the concerned owners can always have availability to check their VIN on the official site of NHTSA.
