Overview:

It is much simple to charge an Electric vehicle (EV) at a known location like a charging station, at home, or at work, it could be easier. The company WiTricity has been working on wireless Electric vehicle charging and has been for a decade. In the year 2015, Tesla showed a video of a metal “snake” that automatically plugs a charging cable into an EV.

Robot for Hands-Free EV charging

Ram is working on the inductive charging robot for their upcoming Electric truck. In Seoul, the automotive companies KIA and Hyundai will display the latest automated charging technologies that are called ACR.

Tesla Snake EV Charging:

The Automatic Charging Robot is similar to Tesla’s Metal Snake, but it is more advanced. The snake has a built-in Tesla connector, but the ACR from the Hyundai Motor Group has a hand that can accommodate several plug types.

Although the robot will likely use a J1772 and CCS connector the majority of the time, it is encouraging to see this kind of progressive compatibility. The HMG designs the ACR to operate in any environment “regardless of the position of the charger, the weather, and any other barriers,” stated the company. It is a dustproof and waterproof robot that us a stationary safety pole with a built-in laser sensor.

The sensor is installed in the ground nearby to warm the robot when the robot might run into stationary or moving obstacles.

Although! This is not the fabulous version of how the ACR works. Simply you can park your Electric vehicle where it will charge up or nearby. If the EV can park itself and tell the system to initialize charging from the key fob.

Robot (ACR):

The electric vehicle (EV) that the ACR is attempting to charge must have a charging port that can open automatically. The ACR automatically communicates with the car and opens it up. After that, the wheeled ACR will move closer to the EV and uses a 3D camera-based Ai.

Just to determine where the charging plus is and it will automatically extend the cable to the charging port. When the EV will fully charge up the Robot (ACR) arm will move away.

The automaker unveiled a computer-generated video in July 2022 that illustrates the robot’s potential. In Addition, the head of the HMG robotics lab. States that the new ACR can be a particular help for people with mobility barriers. As the charging cables become thicker and much heavier to enable high-speed charging.

The ACR is a cool toy on display at the 2023 Seoul Mobility show. The HMG states that it predicts the robots will offer support for EV charging in the Future. Whenever the ACR or any other charging technology arrives. It will be the following tangible step in increasing the accessibility and practicality of EV driving.
