Hyundai Motor has recalled almost 239,000 cars due to potentially exploding Seatbelt parts which might endanger passengers and drivers. As per the company report, it is recalling about 239,000 vehicles owing to seat belt pre-tensioners that potentially represent an explosive danger after reported three injuries.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Notice:
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notice, The US regulator authorities has issued a warning about the component’s unusual deployment. The seatbelt pre-tensioners in these Hyundai vehicles may deploy abnormally, potentially exploding and harming anyone within the car. So far, two injuries have reported in the United States, as well as one in Singapore, as a result of this problem.
Pre-tensioner of Seatbelt:
The pre-tensioner is a gadget that attaches to a regular seatbelt. It helps to restrict the movement of the passenger or driver in the case of an accident or harsh braking.
Recalled Affected Cars:
Hyundai is recalling 239,000 vehicles which include the following affected vehicles:
The affected cars include 61,000 units of Hyundai Accents (2019- 2022), 166,000 units of Hyundai Elantras (2021- 2023). Furthermore 12,000 units of Hyundai Elantra plug-in hybrids (2021- 2022). According to the recall documents, a particular reason has yet to discovered, although Hyundai is actively examining the situation.
US NHTSA officials stated that the owners will take their automobiles to nearby dealerships. Moreover, the pre-tensioners of the seatbelts will be fitted with a cap at no cost.
