Overview:

Cleaning your car with household items can be a budget-friendly and accessible way to keep it looking clean and shiny. To begin, gather the necessary supplies. Start by removing any trash or clutter from the car’s interior and use the vacuum cleaner to clean seats, and floor mats.

If you find any stains or dirt spots, use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean them. While for the exterior always use shampoo for the body of the car. Using detergent on the body of the car will be a bad decision as it can damage the surface of the car.

Always be careful which household products you can use to clean your car. Choosing the wrong product such as Nail polish or Shoe polish shiner can permanently damage the paint. Autodeals have rounded up some of the tips on how to use household items to clean your car. By using products that will not damage your car or the environment during the whole process.

Household Item to clean your car:

  1. White Vinegar:

White Vinegar

White vinegar is a multipurpose cleaner and it is great to use for many surfaces, including the exterior and upholstery of your car. Vinegar is acidic; when it is diluted it will not damage your car’s pain. Just avoid the daily use of white vinegar. Use it only when there is dirt that just won’t budge. Avoid spraying it directly on the surface of your car without mixing it with water.

You have to mix three parts of water and one part of white vinegar and use it sparingly. The mixture of water with vinegar will be useful for removing grease, and dirt that an ordinary soap cannot.

Shake your mixture thoroughly and use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe it down.

  1. Coconut Oil:

Coconut Oil:

When you have cleaned the leather seats of the car you can condition the seats of the car with coconut oil. The only thing you need is a small amount of coconut oil that can work as a conditioning material. Plus point, your car will smell better. Using coconut oil on the surface of your car will protect it from cracking. It also restores its eye-catching shine.

  1. Corn Starch:

Corn starch is a food detergent that is usually used to thicken sauces and soups. Corn starch is a cleaning genius that is effective for many purposes. You can clean your car windows with a mixture of 120g of corn starch and 1l water and then dry it with newspaper.

Corn starch is also much useful for removing excess car polish and wax. The last thing you need to do after giving your car a good polish is a residue that will attract dirt more than it did before. The buff of corn starch will help remove the swirl marks on black cars.

  1. Toothpaste:

As the toothpaste keeps our breath minty fresh, toothpaste can also be applied on the headlights of your car to brighter them. When the headlights of the car start to get foggy, using toothpaste will remove all excess dirt and grime from the car with warm soapy water. Then apply any cheap toothpaste on it and rub. Try your best to avoid getting it on your car’s paintwork. The simple solution to it is to apply tape to cordon off the headlight.

  1. Rubbing Alcohol:

Rubbing Alcohol

Forget running to the stores for some expensive stain remover to keep your car in the best condition. Save your money and reach for the rubbing alcohol and dab the offending stain with a dye-free cloth. Always remember don’t rub it, just dab.

Spraying a mixture of 60ml alcohol to 1L water on your car’s windscreen in winter will help to melt the ice away.

  1. Baking Soda:

Baking Soda is one of the easiest and most flexible kitchen staples. As it is being used for cooking and teeth whitening, it can also be useful for cleaning a car. It can be a nightmare to remove dusty ashtrays filled with crumbs and hairs. After vacuuming the excess dirt apply a mixture of baking soda and water. Let it sit for half an hour, and scrub it with a toothbrush.

  1. Peanut Butter:

Xylem sap is sticky and it can generally be a nuisance. It can stay on your clothes forever. To remove the Xylem sap for your car, all you need is a jar of peanut butter. Spread peanut butter over the affected area of your car and try to warm your area. We recommend peanut butter to avoid scratches! You can also use Mayonnaise and hand sanitizer if you have these lying around you.

  1. Olive oil:

You can add gloss to the dashboard after cleaning it with a little olive oil. Prior to treating the entire area, be careful to find the test in a concealed region. You need to lightly coat the dashboard with olive oil after making sure that no discoloration will happen. Rub it with a fresh towel to make it shine and appear new.

  1. Cooking Spray:

Cooking spray can be used to keep the dirt and brake dust off of your tires and wheels. Just clean the area of the car and spray cooking oil. Spraying cooking oil on the car will help to clean your tires easier in the future. You can also use cooking oil to remove bugs stuck in the front of your car, just spray and wipe.

  1. Fabric Softener Sheets:

Some of the commercial products for cleaning your car can do more damage than good. Using a dryer sheet to wipe off the dashboard of your car, simply tuck a sheet in the glove box. It will help to keep your car smells as fresh as your laundry. Placing a dryer sheet in your air filter can also help to keep rodents away.

Conclusion:

To clean your car using household ingredients, mix an equal part of rubbing alcohol and water. You can also moisten baking soda in your car ashtray and cup holders to eliminate bad odors. To remove the stains from the interior mix equal parts of soap, white vinegar, and soda then spray it over the stains. After this use a scrub brush to work it into the upholstery.
