The Automobile Industry is in Crisis
Foreign exchange restrictions and component supply issues are choking the vehicle industry.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) and the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) sent a joint letter to SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed.
According to the letter, the industry is on the verge of extinction due to SBP import restrictions and banks’ lack of cooperation in the automobile sector. As a result, facilities are closing on a periodic basis, and assemblers and suppliers are lying off workers.
