Honda’s complaint in opposition to the oil companies put forward numerous controversies in the local market. The complaint that was lodged by Honda Pakistan, stated that oil companies are putting additives that are damaging to their vehicles. The additives are added to augment the (RON) Research Octane Number of the petrol or gasoline. As per the media outlets, the automaker put forward a sample of petroleum containing a dangerous level of manganese (Mg). Subsequent to the complaint, OGRA utter that they would investigate the matter.

Following the complaint ,oil companies also took action sturdily, PSO’s (Pakistan State Oil) spokesperson said that the product of the company completely stick to the official terms as set by the Ministry of Energy. Now one more oil selling company Hascol has act in response and has asked the government to modify and upgrade petrol requirement to guard the environment and health of the public.

Saleem Butt ,The Hascol Petroleum Chief Executive Officer sent a letter to Petroleum Secretary Sikandar Sultan Raja and appealed that gently directs the DG Oil to improve motor gasoline specification straight away and bound the manganese content to 24 PPM(parts per million). Furthermore, it was also recommended in the letter that testing of manganese level in the petrol should be made obligatory for both the local and foreign refineries.

The authorities should investigate this matter as this an immense worry for country’s environment and the health of people. Oil refineries globally are advised and requisite to supply product as per the rules and regulation set by the authorities.

It’s relevant to talk about here that local refineries are producing oil that is only compensating the need of 30 percent of vehicles in the country and 70 percent are being catered in the course of imported oil, so the requirement by Hascol Oil needs to be listened though.
