Punjab’s government planned to Revamp Lahore’s Kalma Chowk and construct CBD (Central Business District) Boulevard. The technical team of Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) held a meeting with high officials of the Lahore Traffic Police to finalize the Traffic Diversion Plan for the remodeling project of Kalma Chowk. The infrastructure development project will start next month and its construction will cost Rs 5 billion.
Kalma Chowk and CBD Boulevard Traffic Diversion Project:

Riaz Hussain, Executive Director at PCBDDA, called the meeting, which has attended by Director Project Management Asif Iqbal, SP Traffic Asif Sadiq, and the DSPs. The technical team of PCBDDA described the diversion plan during the construction meeting of CBD Boulevard. In this diversion plan, the authority has provided safe, comfortable, and hassle-free travel for all travelers/passengers during the reconstruction of the Kalma Chowk underpass and the construction of the CBD boulevard.
Details of Traffic Diversion Plan:

The project also referred to as the central business district square, will start with the Kalma Chowk underpass, which will set it apart from the first underpass access. It will then proceed to the Lahore Central Business District and a second underpass before turning away from the Center Point and heading towards Firdaus Market (Ali Zaib Road). It will also involve a number of on-the-ground projects on Gulberg’s main boulevard as well as improvements to the subterranean sewage and drainage systems.
According to the plan, during the first phase of construction, one side of Main Boulevard will be open to traffic from Barkat Market to Liberty Market. Furthermore, the service lane will be operational for traffic coming from Firdous Market (Ali Zeb Road) to Barkat Market and Ferozepur Road.
In addition, the traffic from Model Town towards Liberty will be rerouted through Gaddafi Stadium. Meanwhile, they also proposed a clear path for the residents of the Falcon Society.

According to a source, the traffic police officers agreed with the Traffic Diversion Plan with a few minor adjustments. In addition, if there is any development work, we will keep the people informed about the modifications in the plan.
