Overview
During the World Government Summit, UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the design for new flying taxi stations in Dubai.
He stated that air taxis will start operating in Dubai in three years, making the city the world’s first to have a fully completed network of vertiports. A vertiport VTOL is a structure that houses electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft like air taxis.

Flying Taxi Travelling
The air taxis will travel at up to 300 km/h and have a range of 241 kilometers. Each taxi will carry a pilot and four passengers. Dubai’s four important districts will be linked by the vertiport network: Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has been collaborating with Skyports Infrastructure and Joby Aviation to design and implement an air taxi network by 2026. The goal of the project is to give passengers with a zero-emissions trip from start to end.
During the conference, the RTA also displayed a simulation that allowed visitors to experience flying taxis. Because of its vertical take-off and landing capabilities, the aircraft will have a quick turnaround time.
What is Vertiport?
Vertiports are VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) hubs.

‘An area of land, water, or structure utilize or designe to be use for VTOL aircraft landing and take-off’.
