Currently, The FAW V2 has the status of being the only non-Japanese passenger car to be assembled here in Pakistan. Back in 2014, the 1.3 liter V2 was at first imported as CBU from China. Since August 2017 the hatchback is being assembled locally in Pakistan. From then the fame of V2 is on the rise, as the local assembled V2 has given loads of confidence to buyers who were earlier uncertain to go for it. The car presents good value for money being reasonably priced and more prominently, performs well too.
However the main distress for most of the people is the lack of variants, as the V2 comes in a single trim and certainly, the unavailability of an automatic transmission. With the ever growing traffic in big cities, the automatic transmission is well thought-out to be a huge bonus mainly if you have to drive often in congested situations.
Now it has been learned from a trustworthy source that Al-Haj FAW is taking into consideration to introduce the V2 with AMT transmission somewhere in 2018. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) is a semi-automatic clutch-less transmission that smooth the progress of manual gear changes by means of electronic sensors and actuators upon input from the driver or by a computer.
This omits the need for a clutch pedal which the driver otherwise needs to press prior to making a gear change. Lately a similar transmission was also presented by Pak Suzuki called AGS (Auto Gear Shift) in its flagship Cultus VXL variant.
