There is a variety of benefits to switching to an electric vehicle. Besides being environmentally friendly, they reduce fuel costs, improve your image and eliminate some maintenance concerns. However, a new study has now revealed that EVs (electric vehicles) consume tires faster than ICE (internal combustion engine) cars.
An EV’s regular tires deteriorate around 20% more quickly than an ICE vehicle’s regular tires do. Now mostly EVs come with specialized tires, however even these often require more frequent replacement than conventional tires.
Why EVs Will Consume Tires Faster Than ICE Cars?

EVs may not have as long-lasting tires, because they make up for it in other ways. They typically need a lot less maintenance than their ICE counterparts, mainly because they have fewer moving parts. A London-based firm by the name of The Tyre Collective has developed a gadget that mounted behind the wheel of a car, truck, or bus. For the time being, they are calling it the Box, and the box has designed to capture emissions from the often overlooked source of tires.
Because most passenger car tires have very little natural rubber in them, they are actually made of a mixture of petrochemicals, the byproducts of which eventually end up in the land, air, water, and oceans.n
