Overview

The rising prices of petrol can only control with EVs and the government planning for EV bikes coming to Pakistan very soon. The Federal Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif released the statement that the government has planning to replace petrol bikes with EV motorbikes. Motorbikes are the most common and very cheapest riding option in Pakistan.

For daily commuters, it provides a great opportunity to travel at a cheap price. But the recent hike in petrol prices also makes trouble for motorbikes riders. The only solution government has seen is to replace it with EVs. Electric power vehicles are cheaper than petrol. However, in Pakistan electricity is not cheap but the charging cost of a motorbike is less than fuel.

Overview

Govt Statement Regarding EV Bikes

At the conference, Khawaja Asif tells the media that the government will encourage EV motorbikes sales in Pakistan and provide full support to enhance the sale. The government has taken this step for the welfare of the country. EV bikes help to improve economic stability and the environment also. Moreover, he said the introduction of E-bikes saves Rs 86 billion every year.

The statement of the Federal Minister shows the government offers full support to automakers. EV vehicle production is a necessary need of our economy to control the import of fuel.

Govt Statement Regarding EV Bikes

Expiration of EV Import Duties

To encourage the production of electric vehicles in Pakistan the Regulatory Duty SRO has expired for electric vehicles including cars. The government ended SRO 1571(I)/2022 on November 21, 2022. After this, the price of EVs fell significantly. Audi has reduced the price of its most-selling EV in Pakistan E-Tron and its price is down by Rs 20 million. However, other Ev’s prices also decline after the change in policy.

The expiration of EV import duties will encourage new electric bike production in Pakistan. currently, we have electric scooters in Pakistan which are mostly owned by girls. Electric bikes in Pakistan will receive a huge response because bikes are a top priority for the young generation. Bikes are the only option to ride at a cheap cost.

Conclusion

Petrol bikes are gradually being replaced by electric bikes. The e-bike or electric bike is a motorized bicycle that uses electricity as its power source. It is a clean, environment-friendly, and convenient mode of transport and hope that is being used increasingly in Pakistan.
