Electric vehicles have taken over a large share of the Turkey car market. According to industry data, sales of electric cars (EVs) virtually tripled in Turkey in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year, while those of their gasoline-electric hybrid competitors also increased. Let’s talk about how electrified cars grabbed bigger automotive market share in Turkey.
Automotive Distributors Association:

According to records from the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), Electric car sales in Turkey between January to august sold 3,283 units, a 174.5% rise from the 1,196 that sold during the same time last year.
According to the data, total sales of passenger cars and light trucks in Turkey fell 8.5% year over year in the first eight months to 458,446 units. Furthermore, according to the data, sales of cars were down 9.4% from a year ago to 354,543 vehicles, while sales of light commercial vehicles were down 5.2% to 103,903. It is stated that due to the rising prices and problems ranging from logistics bottlenecks to ongoing chip shortages, production has stalled.
Increased in Electric Vehicles Reduced Number Of Gasoline Vehicles:

The increase in electric vehicles leads to a decrease in the number of gasoline vehicles in Turkey. Despite rapidly declining sales, gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles continue to be the most popular. In the first eight months of this year, sales of gasoline-powered vehicles totaled 250,401, while sales of diesel vehicles reached 60,316. Both sales were down from the 256,815 and 80,643 units sold in the corresponding period last year.
While the upward trend in sales of hybrid vehicles continued and grew by 2.9 percent to 34,265 units in the January to August period, as against 33,287 units sold a year ago. Although hybrid and electric automobiles are increasingly common around the world, but their market share is still small, and the increase in sales indicates that consumers are getting more and more interested in the electrified market. This interest is anticipated to significantly increase as Turkey gets ready to launch the widespread distribution of its first domestically made electric vehicle.
TOGG to Launch Mass Production of Electric Vehicles:

Turkish Automobile Joint Venture Group TOGG, a car manufacturing consortium. TOGG has planned to launch mass production of an all-electric SUV next month. The C-segment SUV will debut on the market in the first quarter of 2023 and will be the first non-traditional carmaker to assemble an electric sport utility vehicle in continental Europe.
