Classic cars
Every person loves his ride. Everyone wants his ride to be in perfect condition and he tries to keep it in the original and best condition. But some people are above the caring limits. they use to keep their rides as much neat clean and genuine as possible. Classic cars are older cars typically older than 20 years. The terminology “classic car” has a very broader concept. It usually contains those cars which were manufactured before 1980 or those which were manufactured before World War II. These cars are those which are older but instead of scrapping them the owners kept them in original conditions or the collector restored them in their original conditions.
Maintenance of a Classic Cars
Having a classic car is amazing but keeping it in genuine condition is a challenge for the owner. It is not a cheap hobby and it becomes more difficult when you are living in a country like Pakistan because no matter how much care you put while driving but here, we have motorbikes, rickshaws, and donkey carts on the road and during driving, they hug your car unexpectedly. This is the reason that when you are driving on road, it is really difficult to save your vehicle from such scratches and dents.
Classic Car Exhibition by Heritage Club of Motoring Pakistan
Having a classic car is an expensive hobby. Maintenance is difficult, parts are expensive, and also it is difficult to find the right repairing service and parts for your car. To motivate these car owners, The Heritage Motor Club Pakistan organized a classic car show where they invited classic car owners from all over Pakistan. Heritage Motor club of Pakistan organized this beautiful car event on the 24th of October 2021 at Frere Hall. They planned to start an annual classic car rally from Karachi to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for the first time, it will end at Swat.
Classic car lovers from all over Pakistan gathered in this event and brought their amazing vehicles there. Many cars were there also from Lahore and Islamabad.
Rolls Royce 1924 – Owned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah
The main attraction there was Rolls Royce 1924 of Nawab of Bahawalpur, owned by Mr. Karim Chapra. Mr. Chapra said that he bought this car in 2004 from Nawab of Bahawalpur’s collection. The car is driven only 9,000 Km and still is in its genuine condition. No major changes have been made to the vehicle other than some exterior paint and interior maintenance. The car has also competed in World Classic Car Competition and won the prices. Mr. Chapra added that he has received many attractive offers from all over the world for this car but he refused simply. He believes that this vehicle belongs to the heritage and history of Pakistan and it must stay in this beautiful land and it has to be preserved for future generations and he has no intentions of selling it.
Other Vehicles in the Exhibition
In this amazing exhibition, Ford, Mercedes, Volks Wagon, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and wrangler’s vehicles attracted car lovers to them.
Each vehicle has its pride, joy, and story, and the owners were proudly presenting their vehicles and superciliously telling the stories of vehicles.
Renault Dauphine
The other beast there was the “Renault Dauphine”, owned by Mr. Liaquat Malik. He said that this car was Pablo Picasso’s favorite. Initially, you cannot find its front bumper more prominent until you know that the engine is at the rear side of the vehicle where it had bigger fenders.
Fiat
Two fiats were also there. One was 1947 Topolino and the other was 1965 Fiat 500. Both were painted in Metallic orange and bright red respectively. Although the paint of Topolino was not original still it was looking stunning.
1938 Rolls Royce Wraith
There was another beauty parked. It was 1938 Rolls Royce Wrath owned by Captain Mansoor. Mr. Mansoor said he had to dig out this car from a collapsed wall and it took 35 years to restore this vehicle. He said that there are only a few people who can drive the vehicle. The reason is that it gears shifting knob is on the right side of the driver’s seat and you cannot see the gear knob while driving. The car is a right-hand drive and it was designed in the same condition. It will take time to get used to it.
The other vehicles in the line were
- 1963 ford Thunder Bird owned by Ibaad Lari
- 1965 Ford FastBack owned by Zeeshan Tahir
- Strange model year Mustang Convertible 1964 and a ½ (Half) owned by Zeeshan Tahir
- The visitors could also see there were both right-hand drive and left-hand drive displayed. On one side there were volks Wagen beetle and Micro Bus was parked next to them.
- Volks Wagon Beetle was owned by Mr. Tahir.
- 1972 deep green Jaguar XJ6 Series-1 owned by Mr. Razi Nayyar. This vehicle was formally owned by the Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
- two-tone, cream color with maroon roof 1959 Dodge Kingsway owned by Mr. Razi Nayyar
- 1972 Mercedes 300 SEL in blue owned by Shoaib Qureshi
- 1983 Chevrolet Camaro in Black-owned by Shoaib Qureshi
- 1991 Cadillac Brougham in orange owned by Shoaib Qureshi
Organizer’s Remarks
Mr. Shoaib Qureshi, one of the organizers, said that this exhibition was organized to attract a new generation to their history and also make them aware that what did they have in the past. It is also to motivate the people to keep their old vehicles instead of scrapping them. He also added that they have planned to organize a classic car rally on the 26th of October which will start from Karachi and will end in Swat.
Mr. Tauqir Sultan Awan said that they have three regions according to areas. The first one is the southern region which includes Sindh and Balochistan. The center region is from Rahim Yar Khan to Jhelum while the North region has Azad Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and FATA in it. He also added that they have taken their vehicle all over the country and recently they drove their vehicles to Nathiagali and before that they took their vehicle to Attock in April.
After asking a question about vehicle troubles during the journey he answered that these are old vehicles and they cause trouble sometimes like broken axel, sometimes failed brakes but we know that how to tackle these issues. So, we love our cars in every situation.
