Overview
In an unexpected move, the Cabinet Committee for the Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) approved auto sector safety standards on Friday.

According to trustworthy sources, the CCLC met here on Friday and debated and approved the agenda. Item of vehicle safety standards, including electric vehicles (EVs), will now be referred to the federal cabinet for ratification.
Details on Safety Standards
The CCLC has accepted eight safe criteria for locally built vehicles, according to details. These are the Child Restraint System (PS:5574 and PS:5575), Safety Belts (PS:5578 and PS:5579), Air Bags (PS:5576), Electric Power Train for EVs (PS:5550 and PS:5551), and Rider Helmet (PS:5550 and PS:5551) (PS:1402).
The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority created these standards (PSQCA). These standards are fairly similar to Japanese ones.
According to the draught proposal, the CCLC has been asked to accept. The addition of the proposed standard (quality) in PSQCA’s mandatory items, which already includes 166 food and nonfood products to inspect and certify.
Serious Concern on the Lack of Safety Features
