In the world of cruisers, renowned Custom builder Fred Kodlin is considered a living legend. The German customizer has become the first non-US citizen to be inducted into the Sturgis hall of fame. However, the Kodlin Motorcycles dates back to 1984, when Fred Kodlin began producing jaw-dropping custom builds. The show has had worthy aftermarket parts for nearly 40 Years.
BMW R 18 B Heavy Duty:
All of the visionaries had to look beyond their period, and Kodlin called for his son Len to provide a hand on his current project. His latest build is the automotive BMW R 18-based Heavy Duty. The BMW R 18 B may shine as a mile-munching tourer, but to suit their purposes Fred and Len completely refabricated the frame’s top tube for a more pronounced fly line. However, the pair preserved the model rake angle by also modifying its steering tube and the triple trees. With the build of a low stance, the team installed an airbag to aid the low-profile form with the on-road function.
The modified chassis is supported by a lengthy gas tank that the Kodlins constructed to order. The stretch motif extends back to the heavy-duty side panels that flow directly into the fiberglass–reinforced hard bags.
Paint Scheme of BMW R 18 B:
The two-wheeled spectacle wouldn’t do with any other solid paint scheme. So, the team enlists tattoo artist Marcel Sinnwell for an eye-popping livery. With the hues of the cyan and red swirl highlighting the paint job. The Sinnwell puts his all airbrushing and his paint-mixing skills to good use. If Florida had a state motorcycle, that would be it.
