To guarantee road safety, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) would take harsh measures against overweight cars.
Inspector General (IG) NHMP
Khalid Mahmood, Inspector General (IG), indicated that the department will execute Section 43, Schedule 6 of the National Highways Safety Ordinance 2000. He further stated that anyone who violates the weight limit will face serious penalties under the law.
Bikers Awareness – raising Campaign
NHMP launched a campaign earlier this month to educate bikers on the proper usage of rearview mirrors and helmets. According to Asad Shabbir, a spokesman for the, motorcycles frequently violate traffic restrictions, resulting in property and life losses.
The agency also submitted a letter to the Engineering Development Board (EDB) urging a safety awareness campaign for motorbike manufacturers.
He added that the NHMP provided helmet safety briefings and distributed free helmets.
On the directions of NHMP Inspector General Khalid Mahmood, Shabbir added, the department has launched a campaign named “nomore” to create awareness about traffic regulations among bike riders.
