Overview
In the prolongation of the relentless crackdown on traffic law offenders. The ICT Traffic Police (ITP) issued 2,048 challans to motorists on Tuesday.
Inspector General (IG) ICT Police
According to a spokesman for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police. “Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, Inspector General (IG) ICT Police, has instructed the ITP not to spare anybody who violates traffic laws”.
Violations
Not wearing a helmet
According to the data, 278 bikes were fined for not wearing a helmet.
Cell phones Using
107 people were fine using phones while driving.
Without Seat Belt
128 people were fine for not using seat belts.
Smoke-Emitting Vehicles
9 vehicles emitting smoke were also fine.
Wrong Lane
162 for a lane violation.
Tinted Windows
65 for tinted windows.
Wrong Number plates
60 for wrong number plates.
Traffic Signal
56 for running red lights.
Zebra Crossing
14 for wrong crossing a zebra crossing.
Improper and careless driving
8 for improper driving and 5 for careless driving.
Other Violations
Apart from this, 246 motorcyclists were fine for other violations without a driving license.
Conclusion
ITP fined 13,028 motorists in last month for using high-intensity discharge (HID) and LED lights in their vehicles. Similarly, in 2022, ITP penalize 211,279 bikes for not wearing helmets. So, averaging more than 17,600 fines each month.
