According to the detail, For the purpose of producing and assembling Kia automobiles, Dewan Farooque Motors Limited (DFML) and Kia Corporation, of South Korea, have entered into a Technology License Agreement (TLA).
Dewan Motors to Produced KIA Cars:
Dewan’s Farooq Motors Limited Chairman has stated that they have signed an agreement with South Korean automobile giant KIA Corporation to assemble its vehicles and will soon start manufacturing Kia vehicles in Pakistan. The agreement was disclosed by a notification sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
This is an interesting move as Lucky Motor Corporation Limited (LMCL) is already assembling and selling Kia vehicles in Pakistan. They have locally produced various Kia passenger and commercial vehicles that include the Sportage & Stonic crossovers, Picanto hatchback, and Sorento SUVs. The company also locally produces the French automaker’s SUV Peugeot 2008 in Pakistan.
Dewan Motor’s Statement about Production of Kia Cars:

According to a notification, DFML has not yet started manufacturing the vehicles. Although it will take some time to assemble Kia vehicles in Pakistan. Furthermore, DFML will produce Kia sedans and commercial vehicles in Pakistan. It is expected that their portfolio of cars will be quite different from LMC’s. The secretary of Dewan Farooq Motors said that more information will be provided in the coming weeks.
This is not the first time that DFML will manufacture Kia cars in Pakistan. In 1998, DFML made an agreement with Hyundai and Kia to assemble and sell their vehicles in Pakistan. DFML manufactured 95,429 vehicles between 2000 and 2011 that includes Kia Classic, Spectra, Sportage, and Hyundai Santro. The company also sold almost 50,000 Shahzoor trucks, which still dominate the market for commercial trucks carrying one tonne.
