Netherland-based company Dutch has planned that it will begin selling the world’s first production-ready solar vehicle later this year. This electric vehicle with the extra feature of solar charging allows the vehicle to be charge using the sun. The company claims that the solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) will run for up to seven months without requiring to be connect to a conventional charger.

Lightyear has debuted in the Netherlands in 2016. The Lightyear is the result of six years of research and development. Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Lex Hoefsloot during the launch of the 250,000-euro Lightyear model said Electric cars are the right step. But they are dependent on the grid, which is still primarily based on fossil fuel generation. By adding a fresh source, the sun guarantees that you will always have that charge. You will need to charge much less frequently. Every day, solar energy can increase your driving range by up to 70 kilometers.
Lightyear Solar Powered Car:
It has curved solar panels on the length of the roof and hood, as well as a compact 60kWh battery pack. Essentially, it charges itself when exposed to sunlight. Which means it may be driven for months without needing to be hooked into a standard power source. According to the company, this combination gives the vehicle a range of 388 miles, of which 44 miles are derived from solar energy.

The company claims that its patented double crew solar arrays can generate up to 11,000 km of electricity annually. Its 60kWh battery pack and four electric motors deliver 174 horsepower and 1,269 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a fairly reach 0-62mph of roughly 10 seconds.
