Pakistan’s commercial core and the most occupied city in the country, Karachi, has been affirmed as the worst city for driving a automobiles, as said by a study by a German company, kfzteile24.

Perhaps, the city of light is having a mainstream area without lights because of extended load-shedding, has been placed at 99th position out of total 100 placements.

The worst city for driving a vehicle stated is Kolkata of India, which is giving some breathing space to us being Pakistanis.

Certainly, traffic jams for hours on main roads are in schedule, parking is not accessible in commercial areas, driving with no license and on wrong side is in the trend, main roads and service roads are encroached heavily, the condition of roads are not up to the mark of global standard even at a satisfactory level, roads in small areas are the worse for wear and what not, the list is extensive which everyone living in Karachi or visits the city once in a life comes across approximately daily.

The subject of public transport, air pollution and ease of use of proper infrastructure in the form of underpasses / overpasses and pedestrian bridge, the regulation of traffic rules are clear and need severe elevating.

About the Study

The study inspected several factors;

  1. Jamming levels, public transport options,
  2. Average cost of parking,
  3. Cost of fuel, average speeds
  4. Levels of air pollution, accidents and fatalities,
  5. Road quality and the frequency/perception of road rage.

Any traffic holdups or overcrowding origin by temporary construction work was not taken into explanation for this study.

Once all issues were investigated for 100 cities, a final score was designed for all.

Ten Worst Cities To Drive

Formerly, one more autonomous survey by Economic Intelligence Unit had graded Karachi with the ten worst cities in the world. Then in another survey by UN-Habitat prior to this ranked Karachi as worst city in Urban Development.

The position of these surveys by diverse groups are not destined to insult Karachi or Pakistan but they picture insensitive realism that must be dealt with and worked out at first.

The same survey group, Economic Intelligence Unit also affirmed Karachi as one of the cheapest city in the world, representing that such surveys are balanced and must be considered as an instrument to get significant assessment of our affairs.

The government, authorities, political stakeholders and people of the city should imagine to own their city, which is also called as Mini Pakistan and the major donor of revenue to the national exchequer.

There is no noticeable growth on Karachi Circular Railway. The projects of public transport such as Green-line Bus Project and Orange line are being carried out with small pace.

More than a few packages have been publicized by the provincial and federal government for making big headlines but almost there is no such development on the sustainable foundation.

PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, in the past two months, proclaimed a Rs. 25 billion package for Karachi and CM Murad Ali Shah also exposed a package of Rs. 12 billion individually for the development of the city’s infrastructure. But will Karachiites obtain the advantage of these packages or their destiny will hang about at the same as the old packages?

Presently for fear that if you are doubting, below is the list of 10 best cities to drive:
