The postponed project of alternating registration book with an automated card will now be able to continue its journey. The Excise Taxation Department plans to bring in Automated Registration Cards (ARC) by November of 2017.
The department called for the bids for the Automated Registration Cards (ARC) in April 2017 which is being precisely evaluated. Seemingly, it has been paying attention to finish the financial and technical evaluation by the end of July and honor the contract to the winning bidder as soon as possible.
2 Million Smart Cards per Annum
Bidding documents have made clear that the department need applicants to be competent enough to publish at least 2 million cards per year. Technological necessities include counterfeit confrontation, stability and safe storage of personal data. Each card will be valid for at least five years after being subjected to the member.
Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, publicized the automated card service back in March 2015. Nevertheless, the project saw limited progress during this time but now it is finally coming to actions.

Profit for Car Owners

The automated card will carry quite a few profit for car owners. The drop in its size will finish the irritation of caring for a registration book and moving it around. The smart cards are more suitable that way.
These automated cards will come with a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip for authentication of car facts including chassis number, registration number, token tax expiry date, etc.
The Department of Excise & Taxation give over 2 million registration books every year. The existing stock of books will last until November this year, so, it can be understood that these will be taken over by cards after the existing stock of books expires. According to the Government, it has database for around 700,000 vehicles. The issued smart card will be valid for 5 years. Adding more , a two month trial period prior to the grand execution of this system.
