In prototype form, the 2018 Honda Insight has been unveiled at the Detroit motor show. It is power-driven by the same hybrid powertrain as that of the 2018 CR-V hybrid, which is planned to go on sale in the UK in August.
The new Toyota Prius contender takes a more conventional saloon silhouette than its high-reared predecessor. The front face will take on Honda’s aggressive new styling theme, having a metallic strip running the full width, tying in with Honda’s other US-market models.

The wheelbase and dimensions of the new car have grown over the preceding Insight, even though Honda hasn’t up till now specified the new car’s dimensions – the car on show in Detroit is merely a pre-production prototype.
Honda’s US boss, Henio Arcangeli said:
“Where previous hybrids have been compromised by their electrification, the new Insight will be an immense car in its own right, independent of what’s happening under the hood. The all-new Insight embodies Honda’s approach to creating electrified vehicles with no the typical trade-offs.”

Coming to the Interior, the car has an 8.0 inch touch screen infotainment system and a 7.0 inch LCD display at the back of the steering wheel. It’ll feature smartphone-mimicking customization of the interface and applications, plus the capability to update software over-the-air via wi-fi.
