Foreign Companies to Bring Light EFI CNG Kits

Representatives of the three renowned companies from Italy and United Kingdom will arrive in Pakistan this week .The purpose is to search for the scenarios of supplying lightweight Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Cylinders and most up-to-date electronic fuel injection (EFI) compatible kits.

Central leader of APCNGA Abdul Ghiyas Paracha told the media “Groups of the companies are arriving on January 11 and 13 to hold negotiations with the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA). They will also visit other stakeholders like Petroleum and Natural Resources Division of the Energy Ministry and Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP),”

He said the association was intending to import most up-to-date electronic fuel injection (EFI) compatible kits, lightweight 22 kg and 45 kg CNG cylinders, which could be usable  in 660cc to 3,000cc vehicles.

The chairman said that the lightweight cylinders would have the equivalent eight kilograms CNG filling capacity as that of the old 60 kg CNG cylinders and adding up the new technology would be trouble-free in handling and would give enhanced mileage.

He uttered in reply to a question “It will be cost-effective as compared to the increasing prices of vehicles. However, price of new cylinders and kits will be determined after their import,”

Paracha said a lot of international entrepreneurs were getting in touch with the association and displaying intense interest to invest after seeing wonderful potential in CNG sector of Pakistan.

Responding to a question, he admitted that currently the CNG sector was not appealing motorists for the reason that they were still uncertain about its future, but showed confidence that “future will be of the reasonably priced and eco-friendly fuel, which is almost 30 percent cheaper than petrol at the current rates.”

Paracha, who is in addition also heading the Universal Gas Distribution Company (Pvt.) Limited – first company that got secured Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sale and marketing licence from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority in order to give supply to the CNG outlets, greeted the Petroleum and Natural Resources Division for making concentrated hard work for reactivating the sector.

He emphasized the need for introducing more LNG terminals and additionally improving the supply system across the country to present reasonably priced and environment-friendly fuel to the public.

He said, even though CNG stations were in service round-the-clock, the number of CNG users would slowly but surely raise with the improved LNG supply.

In 2012, Pakistan was on top along with CNG user countries with 3.7 million CNG-run vehicles, he added further , “By the grace of Allah Almighty it will soon achieve the past glory.”

He showed confidence that with sustained government policies to revitalize the CNG sector, Pakistan would again turn out to be number one CNG user country in the next three years.
