Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has announced a petroleum strike nationwide. Amid soaring inflation and decreasing profit margins has been a surge in their business. The strike has been announced for 22 July 2022. PPDA has announced the strike with its 10,000 members standing with the authorities to announce the strike and e stick to it. They have decided to shut down all petrol pumps across the country at 6 pm on the decided date.
Reason For Petroleum Strike
The spoke person of the dealers association Abdul Sami Khan mentioned the reason for the strike is failing to respond to their legal legitimate by the Ministry of Petroleum. Further, they said that they have made several attempts to get in touch with Minister. But they didn’t get any response to a request.
Moreover, he also highlighted the issue of revoked dealer licenses due to the sale of Iranian petrol. He said almost 20 dealers’ license has been revoked. Abdul Sami has clearly described the dishonored statement of the Chief Minister of Balochistan regarding that the petrol being sold has originated from Iran.
Petroleum sales declined by 26% compared to the last year. It’s important to highlight that the economic downturn has made an impact on petroleum industry sales. Meanwhile. Smuggling Iranian petrol is also a major reason for petroleum sale slugging.
